SICILY. Syracuse. Agathokles, 317-289 BC. Stater or Double Dekadrachm (Gold, 17 mm, 5.69 g, 8 h), circa 305-289. Head of Athena to right, wearing crested Corinthian helmet decorated with a griffin on the bowl, pendant earring and pearl necklace. Rev. AΓAΘOKΛEOΣ - BAΣIΛEOΣ Winged thunderbolt; below, monogram of TP. Bérend 9. BMC 416. BMFA 464. Rare and of fine style. Slightly rough, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
